Streaming

After almost 7 months there is a new update of Dreambox ReStream software. Due to the fact that we are currently happy with the software, the amount of updates is low. We think there is no need for updates except for bugs and or security related issues. If there are still wishes, please mail them to: dreambox [at] theyosh.nl

A new version of Dreambox ReStream has been released. With this version we have some small changes and some big changes.

Major changes

After a few months of slow development, here is a new version of Dreambox ReStream. In this version we have tackled the slow EPG loading. Also the browser should not freeze anymore. The code is probably not final yet, but it should be stable enough to release.

A new feature is to disable HLS streaming, and only have a HTTP FLV stream. This only works on the Desktop version. So enabling it, will disable the HLS support for the mobile interface. This setting can only by changed in the Settings.class.php file. It is not in the setup wizard.

There is now a installation manual for Dreambox ReStream Live Image. It is based on the Mac OSX version of VirtualBox. So the screen could look a bit different. But it should make live a bit easier now.

In this tutorial you will get the Dreambox ReStream Live image running in Virtual Box. By default the Dreambox ReStream Live Image interface is accessable at http://dreamboxrestream.

The steps that are needed are:

1. Download and Install VirtualBox
2. Download the Dreambox ReStream Live Image
3. Import the Dreambox ReStream Live Image into VirtualBox
4. Configure the right network interface in VirtualBox
5. Start the image and wait a minute
6. Setting up Dreambox ReStream

Here is the new and improved Dreambox ReStream 2.1.0!. This is a major update, and should be installed on a clean setup. It does not need Wowza Media Server anymore. All the legacy Windows and Mac OSX support is removed from the code.

Finally the Dreambox ReStream Live image is available. It took a while to get it right, but now, here it is!! Download it from the Dreambox ReStream project page. This week I released a new version of Dreambox ReStream. The biggest change is that when VLC 2.0 is used and iPhone streaming is enabled, that the iPhone stream is also used in the JW Player. Therefore VLC takes less CPU and there is no need to open port numbers in your firewall.

Another feature is support for single tuner enigma2 devices. They need a zap command before they can stream. This is implemented, but not yet fully tested. So any feedback on that is welcome.
